Japan to US: Ensure Ospreys are safe

Foreign Minister Taro Kono asked U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Aug. 7 to ensure the safe operation of U.S. Marine Corps Ospreys in Japan after one of the controversial tilt-rotor aircraft crashed off the coast of Australia.
Kono asked the U.S. to fully investigate the crash, provide Japan with information and prevent further Osprey-related incidents, a Japanese Foreign Ministry official said after their brief meeting on the fringes of the Manila gathering of regional foreign ministers. (Kyodo)
