Two former teammates won the top prizes at the NPB Awards in Tokyo on Nov. 20, with Softbank’s Dennis Sarfate named Pacific League MVP and the Carp’s Yoshihiro Maru winning in the Central League.
"I never expected it," Sarfate said. For his part, Maru chalked up his win to a newfound consistency. "I used to be the type of player who had a lot of ups and downs," he said.
The two MVPs were teammates in Hiroshima in 2011 and 2012, before Sarfate left the team. (The Japan Times)
