The deadly crash of a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey aircraft in Hawaii on May 17 sparked further concern in Okinawa Prefecture over the safety of the tilt-rotor aircraft, 24 of which have been deployed at the U.S. air base at Futenma. A marine was killed and 21 people were sent to hospital in Hawaii.
"I've renewed my sense of fear that we don't know when an Osprey flying overhead might go down in a residential area," said Chieko Oshiro, a 61-year-old resident in the city of Ginowan, near the U.S. base. (Kyodo)
