Suicide attack in Pakistan targets lawyers

Pakistani militants struck at the heart of the country's legal profession Aug. 8, killing a prominent attorney and then bombing the hospital where dozens of other lawyers had gathered to mourn. The twin attacks killed at least 70 people, most of them lawyers, authorities said.

A breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attacks in Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province, which also wounded more than 100 people.

The hospital bombing was a suicide attack, according to a police official. (AP)
