An Italian bishop issued a veiled critique of the suspected shoddy construction behind the high death toll of Italy's earthquake during a state funeral in Amatrice on Aug. 30.
"Earthquakes don't kill. What kills the most is the work of man," said Rieti Bishop Domenico Pom-pili at the funeral in the central Italian town for some 292 victims of the Aug. 24 quake.
An investigation is looking into the quake. Many buildings crum-bled despite having been reno-vated with public funds to protect against quakes. (AP)
