N Korea soldier shot while trying to defect

North Korean soldiers shot at and wounded a fellow soldier who tried to defect to the South across a jointly controlled area at the border on Nov. 13, the South's military said.

The soldier ran from a guard post toward the South Korean side of the area. He was shot in the shoulder and elbow and taken to a hospital, the Defense Ministry said. It wasn't clear how serious the injuries are. (AP)
