A man with a pipe bomb strapped to his body set off the crude device in an underground passageway near New York's Times Square on Dec. 11, injuring himself and three other people at the height of the morning rush hour.
The man and three others were being treated for injuries in what Mayor Bill de Blasio and police labeled an attempted terror attack. Law enforcement officials said the man was inspired by the Islamic State group.
"Thank God the perpetrator did not achieve his ultimate goals," de Blasio said. (AP)
