Official: French president splits with first lady

French President Francois Hollande has split with the country's first lady two weeks after a tabloid reported he was having an affair with an actress, an official said Jan. 25.

A presidential aide speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed that Hollande ended his seven-year relationship with Valerie Trierweiler.

French news wire Agence France Presse first reported that Hollande told them Jan. 25, "I make it known that I have put an end" to the relationship with the journalist. (AP)
