Japan's first domestically produced passenger jet made its maiden flight at Nagoya airport on Nov. 11 after a series of production delays.
The Mitsubishi Regional Jet is the first passenger airliner to be made in Japan since the YS-11 turboprop was rolled out in 1962.
The 35-meter-long twin-engine aircraft will have 70 to 90 seats and be around 20 percent more fuel efficient than similar-sized jets from competitors.
Its maker, Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp., says it can fly from Tokyo to Shanghai or Taipei. (Kyodo)
