The nation’s new main opposition party will be named Minshin To, its lawmakers said March 14. This translates as “Democratic Innovation Party,” although the English version is tentative at this stage.
The party will be formed on March 27 by merging the Democratic Party of Japan and Ishin no To (Japan Innovation Party), the largest and third-largest opposition parties, respectively.
Minshin To was the winner of two surveys that the parties held, asking the public for name suggestions. (The Japan Times)
