Futenma base relocation work suspended

The government Aug. 10 suspended work on the planned relocation of the Futenma military base within Okinawa Prefecture for a month as part of efforts to defuse tensions with local authorities.

Preparations for landfill work at Henoko on the coast of Nago will be suspended through Sept. 9. The central and Okinawa Prefectural governments will use this period to hold "intensive consultations" in an attempt to break the impasse over the relocation of the U.S. Marine Corps' Air Station Futenma. 辺野古作業、1ヵ月停止

政府は8月10日から9月9日まで、米軍普天間飛行場の辺野古移設に関する作業を停止する。この間、沖縄県と移設問題に関する集中協議を行なうという。
