Two female assailants opened fire at the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul on Aug. 10, where a government crackdown has targeted Islamic State militants, Kurdish rebels and far-left extremists.
No one was hurt in the attack on the U.S. Consulate, which came just weeks after Turkey agreed to take a more active role in the U.S.-led campaign against the Islamic State group and to allow the U.S.-led coalition to use its bases.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack and said security at U.S. missions in the country had been increased. (AP)
イスタンブールの米領事館を武装した2人の女が銃撃した。米国主導で行なわれる反政府勢力などへの攻撃をトルコ政府が強めたことに対する報復と見られる。
