A group of senior Japanese lawmakers held talks in Beijing on May 5 with Zhang Dejiang, ranked third in the Communist Party of China, and told him that Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was keen to hold a formal first meet-ing with Chinese President Xi Jinping later this year.
The Japanese side hopes Abe can meet Xi at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in November. (Kyodo)
