Patrick Reed beat back a group of challengers, including sentimental favorites, to win the U.S. Masters on April 8 at Augusta, Georgia.
The 27-year-old turned back an early move by Rory McIlroy, playing for a career Grand Slam; Jordan Spieth, who was challenging the course record; and a late charge by Rickie Fowler.
Reed finished at 15-under 273, for his sixth PGA Tour career win.
Hideki Matsuyama ended in 19th place, 12 strokes behind Reed. His world ranking slips from sixth to eighth. (AP, Kyodo)
