|
|
Fukushima Governor Eisaku Sato said Sept. 27 that he would resign, after his brother and a former senior prefectural official were arrested over a bid-rigging scandal involving a public works contract with Mizutani Kensetsu Co. "I decided to end my 18-year-career (as governor) to take moral responsibility and to restore public trust in the prefectural administration as soon as possible." The governor, meanwhile, has denied that he had any personal involvement in the scandal. (Kyodo)
