Political donations allowed for foreign firms
|
|
A bill designed to ease restrictions on political donations from foreign-owned companies passed the House of Representatives on Dec. 5. The legislation to amend the Political Funds Control Law would lift the current ban on political donations by companies that are more than 50 percent owned by overseas shareholders, such as Nissan and Canon Inc. But to be eligible, the company must be listed on a Japanese stock exchange for at least five straight years. (Kyodo)
