Government blasted over 'town meetings'

Participants were mobilized in large numbers in 40 percent of government-organized "town meetings" since June 2001, a report said Dec. 13. Questions were planted in 8 percent of the sessions, the report also said, noting the events were used to guide public opinion to conform to government policies.
