Saudi Arabia shattered Japan's dreams of a third consecutive Asian Cup title after a 3-2 win in the semifinal in Hanoi on July 25. "We had a number of key players who looked tired and I'm disappointed with the result," Japan coach Ivica Osim said after the game. "But I can't complain because the players worked hard." Saudi Arabia had lost its three previous meetings against Japan in the Asian Cup finals.(Kyodo)
