China executes ex-food and drug chief
|

China, in an attempt to tackle a growing product safety crisis at home and abroad, executed the former head of its food and drug watchdog July 10 for approving untested medicine in exchange for cash.
Under Zheng Xiaoyu, the agency between 1998 and 2005 approved six fake medicines, with drug makers using falsified documents to apply for approvals. One drug killed at least 10 people. (AP)
