Tokyo, Seoul in row over islets

Japan defended July 15 its decision to include in teaching guidelines its claims to islands controlled by South Korea. The move caused Seoul to protest and recall its ambassador. The islets are called Dokdo in Korean and Takeshima in Japanese. In a curious development, Okamoto, Japan's largest condom maker, had to take down its ads from South Korean subways as tensions rose.
