Jusco brings in fresh fish direct

Skipping the long chain of wholesalers, 2.7 tons of fresh fish bought directly from fishermen in Shimane Prefecture hit the shelves Aug. 17 at around 80 Jusco stores. This is an extremely rare move for a supermarket operator, but it ensures the fish are delivered more quickly. The move comes as demand for fish declines in Japan. (Kyodo News)
