Pro-Beijing crowd lines torch relay

The Olympic torch relay passed through Canberra on April 24.
More than 10,000 Chinese Australians turned up in the biggest pro-Beijing rally of the torch relay so far, drowning out Tibetan demonstrators. The protests were mostly peaceful.
The Chinese Embassy denied that it had organized the protests, despite claims from Tibetan protesters.
Anti-Chinese protests during the previous legs of the torch relay have sparked an angry patriotic backlash from Chinese in China and from Chinese living abroad. (AP)

4月24日、北京五輪聖火リレーはオーストラリアの首都キャンベラを通過。これに伴い、キャンベラでは1万人を超す中国系住民が集結し、中国政府や五輪を支持する集会を行なった。
