Australia says sorry to Aborigines
|
|
Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologized to the Aborigines on Feb. 13 for Australia's long history of racist policies. It was a historic moment for race relations in Australia. In the spotlight was an assimilation policy where, between 1910 and 1970, a large number of aboriginal children were taken from their families and brought up in white households. They were called the Stolen Generations. (AP)
