Stonehenge once place of healing

The first excavation of Stonehenge in more than 40 years has uncovered evidence that it attracted sick people from around Europe because they believed it had healing powers, scientists said Sept. 22. Skeletons recovered from the area showed signs of serious disease or injury, healing amulets were discovered in graves, and two skulls showed signs of primitive surgery. (AP)
