JAL set to shave 50 routes, cut jobs

Japan Airlines Corp. (JAL) plans to suspend 50 routes and fire 6,800 employees by March 2012 as part of restructuring measures, sources said Sept. 16. The airline will suspend 29, or about 20 percent, of its domestic routes and 21 international routes, according to a draft of its business improvement plan submitted Sept. 15 to the transport ministry. JAL President Haruka Nishimatsu also announced Sept. 15 plans to increase its personnel cuts by more than 1,000 jobs to a total of around 6,800 by March 2012. (Kyodo News)
日本航空、大幅な路線や人員の削減を計画
情報筋が9月16日に語ったところによると、日本航空は再建計画の一環で、2012年3月までに50路線の運行停止と、6,800人の人員削減を行なう予定だという。
