Noguchi lands after record ISS stay
|

Soichi Noguchi returned to Earth on June 2 after 163 consecutive days in space, the longest mission ever for a Japanese astronaut. Noguchi, 45, returned aboard a Russian Soyuz spacecraft on a plain near Arkalyk, Kazakhstan, with Russia's Oleg Kotov and T.J. Creamer of the United States after they bid farewell to three other astronauts at the International Space Station (ISS). After leaving on the Soyuz for the ISS on Dec. 21, Noguchi was involved in various experiments and operations, including installing a robotic arm outside Japan's Kibo laboratory module. (Kyodo News)
