Group retracts 'faster-than-light' claim

An international research group June 8 retracted its claim that subatomic particles known as neutrinos travel faster than the speed of light, after its own verification experiment did not support the assertion. The international team OPERA said at an international conference on neutrino physics and astrophysics that there was not a clear difference in the speed of neutrinos and light. OPERA drew global attention when it announced last year that neutrino beams traveled 60 nanoseconds faster than light. (Kyodo News)
