Takuya Onishi became the eighth Japanese astronaut to board the International Space Station on July 9, as he begins a four-month mission to conduct experiments, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency said.
Onishi, 40, boarded with Anatoli Ivanishin, 47, of Russia's Roscosmos agency and Kate Rubins, 37, of the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
"Everything worked out fine and it was a wonderful trip to space," Onishi told the mission control center in Moscow. (Kyodo, AP)
