A sushi chain in Osaka Prefec-ture apologized Oct. 2 for serving sushi with excessive wasabi to foreign customers but denied that any ill intent or discrimination was behind the stunt.
Fujii Shokuhin Co. runs the Ichibazushi chain of sushi shops, which has been accused of using excessive amounts of wasabi at its Nanba outlet in central Osaka.
In its apology, Fujii Shokuhin said chefs added up to twice the normal amount of wasabi, but did so on their own, denying that company policy was to blame. (Kyodo, The Japan Times)
