The worst blizzard to hit Tokyo in 45 years left 11 dead nationwide and disrupted the capital's rail lines over the Feb. 8-9 weekend.
NHK reported that 11 people were killed and 1,200 injured in snow-related accidents.
Heavy snow blanketed eastern Japan and halted most of the capital's rail lines.
Sendai in the Tohoku region saw 35 cm of snow, while Fukushima saw 44 cm by the morning of Feb. 8, according to the Meteorological Agency. (Kyodo, The Japan Times)
