A video clip of a politician bawling in front of reporters July 1 has gone viral, leaving many people puzzled and outraged.
The video shows Ryutaro Nonomura, 47, a Hyogo Prefectural assemblyman, bursting into tears, uttering nonsense phrases and banging on the desk.
“To change Japan and society,” he sobbed, sometimes shouting. “I'm putting my life on the line.”
His news conference followed a Kobe Shimbun report raising the question of whether he spent yen3 million of public money on 106 visits to hot springs. (AP)
