French 'Spider-Man' rewarded citizenship

France will give residence papers to an illegal immigrant from Mali who scaled the outside of a Paris apartment block to save a boy who was about to fall from a fourth-floor balcony, President Emmanuel Macron said May 28.

Video shows Mamoudou Gassama, 22, risking his life on May 27 to climb up balconies to rescue the 4-year-old, who is clinging to a railing and crying. Gassama was nicknamed "Spider-Man" after the video went viral.

"I didn’t think twice, I just climbed up," Gassama told Macron the next day. (Reuters)
