A massive theft of customer data from three major credit card firms in South Korea has shown up security lapses in the country's financial industry.
Financial Services Commission Chairman Shin Je-yoon said Jan. 20 the three companies had failed to ensure adequate security.
The chief financial regulator urged firms to be vigilant about data theft by hackers, or by employees and contractors.
In one case, a contractor employee stole data from 80 million card holders by copying the data to a USB stick, reports said. (AP)
