The government March 22 decided to move the Cultural Affairs Agency to Kyoto Prefecture within a few years under a policy designed with the dual aim of driving revitalization of local economies while addressing the overconcentration of central government offices in Tokyo.
The government also said it will judge whether to relocate the Consumer Affairs Agency and the internal affairs ministry's statistics bureau to western Japan prefectures, but won't transfer four other agencies, including the Tourism Agency. (Kyodo)
