American sailors were confined to their bases and banned from drinking alcohol starting June 6 as the U.S. Navy responded to a drunken-driving case that stoked anger across Japan.
A U.S. Navy petty officer was arrested and charged with drunken driving after driving on the wrong side of the road in Okinawa and injuring two people June 4.
