The president of advertising giant Dentsu Inc. admitted in court Sept. 22 that it allowed employees to work illegally high amounts of overtime.
Toshihiro Yamamoto was in court over the suicide at age 24 of former Dentsu worker Matsuri Takahashi, who worked more than 100 hours per month of overtime and was subject to workplace harassment. Her death was officially recognized as work-related in September 2016.
Prosecutors asked for Dentsu to be fined yen500,000, the maximum allowed by law. (Kyodo)
