An 18-year-old male was arrested March 2 for murdering a 15-year-old female last August in Mie Prefecture, police said.
The suspect, who graduated from high school March 1, has confessed to the slaying in Asahi of Hiromi Terawa, who disappeared after attending a fireworks show with a friend on Aug. 25, and to robbing the victim of around yen6,000 in cash, the police said.
The suspect told the police he didn't know the girl.
"I did it for the money alone," he was quoted as saying. (Kyodo)
