Some and any are both used to talk about a certain number or amount of something. Generally speaking, we use some with positive statements and any with negative statements and questions.
◆ I went to the store to buy some milk.
◆ You got some phone calls while you were at lunch.
◆ Some children were playing in the park.
◆ I didn’t have any time to study.
◆ He doesn’t have any brothers or sisters.
◆ I don’t want to drink any coffee.
◆ Do you have any mustard?
◆ Did you see any of your friends at the party?
◆ Does he need any help?
However, there are some times we use any with a positive sentence.
