Vol. 2 : How love begins

Yumi: (1) You look tired.

Jason: (1) Yeah, I am.

Yumi: Why, what's up?

Jason: (2) I haven't been getting much sleep.

Yumi: What? Don't tell me you actually stayed up doing homework.

Jason: Nah . . . it's just that . . . well, something's been bothering me and when I start thinking about it I can't sleep. It's been like this for the past few weeks.

Yumi: Oh. . . . is it serious?

Jason: To me it is.

Yumi: Anything I can do?

Jason: Um . . . well . . . any chance you can ask Naoko if (3) she's going out with anyone right now?

Yumi: OH! I seeeeee! .Well, why don't you just ask her yourself? She's sittin' right in front of you in class.

Jason: Look, didn't it occur to you that I would if I could?

Yumi: Oops, silly me!

Jason: Hey . . . do you really want to help me out or are you just making fun of me?

Yumi: OK, I'm sorry. No problem! I can take care of it. And what if Naoko is unattached?

Jason: Let's worry about that later. And PLEASE don't make it too obvious. You know, just make it sound like a "by-the-way" kinda question.

Yumi: No worries. She won't have a clue.

Jason: Thanks. (4) I owe you one.
