Granny dumping

Granny dumping is the act of abandoning an elderly relative in a public place, such as a bus station or a hospital. The usual reason for granny dumping is that the family is no longer able (or no longer wants) to take care of the elderly relative. The family hopes someone else (usually the government) will look after and pay for the relative. Curiously, granny dumping refers to abandoning both old men and old women.
