A torpedo is an employee who is very bad at his job but decides to leave the company to work in a rival company. Everyone is happy to see the person leave. They are also happy because they know the rival company has not realized how bad that employee is. Everyone hopes that he will do some damage to the other company. In many cases, a torpedo is encouraged to leave a company and work in the rival company. The original meaning of torpedo is a type of weapon, used underwater by submarines to attack ships.
