Extreme ironing is a sport. It involves people ironing clothes, sheets, handkerchiefs and other materials while doing an extreme sport (a difficult outdoor activity, usually something dangerous). For example, a person might iron a shirt while rock climbing, mountain biking or hanging off the back of a taxi. People who do extreme ironing are known as extreme ironers, extreme ironists or just ironists. There are extreme ironing competitions.
