英語のことわざ
Grin and bear it |
listen!
|
This proverb is used when something bad happens and there is nothing you can do about it. "To grin" means "to smile" and "to bear" means "to put up with" or "to not let something bother you." Imagine a co-worker of yours resigns. You have to do the work that he used to do. This means that you have to double the work that you were doing before. "Well, there's nothing I can do about it," you say to yourself, "I'll just have to grin and bear it."
