Rome was not built in a day |
listen!
|
According to this proverb, difficult or complicated things cannot be done very quickly or easily. Instead, like Rome and the Roman Empire, it takes a very long time before these things can be completed, and often, along the way, there are many obstacles and failures. It is often used to make someone feel better after something goes wrong. "I did not get the job." "Well, Rome wasn't built in a day. Keep on trying and eventually, you'll get one."
