Charity begins at home

According to this proverb, a good man should consider his family and his close friends (i.e. home) as the most important thing in his life. A good man would focus on being kind and generous to them, before he starts talkinga bout being kind and generous to other people. This proverb is often used for people who focus so much on being good to other people that they neglect their own family.
