(Cell rings. Rowan reaches out for his cell from the passenger's seat and answers the call)
Rowan: Yo! Naoko.
Naoko: Finally! Where are you both? (1) I've been trying to reach you guys for ages!
Rowan: Yeah, sorry about that. My cell kept going out of range. Listen, (2) we're caught in a traffic jam and I'm pretty sure (3) we're not gonna make it on time. We've moved forward about three inches in the last half hour or so.
Naoko: Great! What did I tell you? Trying to drive all the way in to Tokyo (4) on a Sunday afternoon is a stupid thing to do.
Rowan: All right, can you save all that for later? We need your advice on other roads we can take.
Naoko: Are you on Ome Kaido?
Rowan: Yeah, but it's totally rammed. (5) Is there another way to get in?
Naoko: Sure. Stop at the nearest station and take the train in!
Rowan: Very funny. You should be a comedian. Now, any serious ideas?
Naoko: If you head north onto Sotobori Dori you might find that a bit less congested, but (6) I wouldn't bank on it. As I said, it's Sunday afternoon — (7) everyone's on their way back into town. I think you're just going to have to sit tight and wait for the traffic to ease up.
Rowan: I guess you're right. Well at least we've got a TV in here to keep us entertained. (8) I'll give you a call when we're approaching Shinjuku. Hopefully we can make it before the party ends!
